Some Things Said… (October 06)

From the “Religion of Peace”

If the stupid pig [Pope Benedict XVI] is prancing with his blasphemies in his house, then let him wait for the day coming soon when the armies of the religion of right knock on the walls of Rome. –Ansar al-Sunna, Iraqi Islamofascist group, issuing a threat after the pope’s recent comments regarding the evil of Islam

We tell the worshipper of the cross that you and the West will be defeated… We shall break the cross and spill the wine… [Allah] enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen. –al-Qa’ida in Iraq – following suit. –Submitted by Mark Zaveson as listed at the Patriot Post.

Gay Parents Encouraged to Be Activists at School

Group instructs them to combat “intolerant attitudes.”

Gay-activist group Family Pride has produced a pamphlet to guide homosexual parents in introducing themselves to their children’s schools.

“Building Family Equality in the Classroom” suggests parents attend the first PTA meeting together and introduce themselves as a couple.
Barbara McPherson, legislative affairs coordinator for the California Family Council, told Family News in Focus such activism doesn’t belong in school.

“It’s a crossing of the line almost between information that helps people understand tolerance within their community versus an indoctrination,” she said, “trying to get other people’s children to think that same-sex partners are normal.”

The pamphlet warns gay and lesbian parents that they may get a cold reception from other parents, but “it’s better to know about intolerant attitudes up front.”

Brian Camenker, president of MassResistance, said gay-activism in the schools is a daily battle in Massachusetts… –excerpted from Focus on the Family 09.18.06

(isn’t the phrase “gay parents” an oxymoron? —ed.)

NBC: Bible Verses In Veggie Tales Offensive, But Not Madonna’s Mockery Of The Crucifixion Of Christ

NBC anti-Christian bigotry continues. This time NBC censored Bible verses and expressions of Christian love from the children’s cartoon Veggie Tales being shown Saturday mornings on NBC.

NBC says comments such as “God made you special and He loves you very much” were offensive and censored them from the show.

In response to the outrage over the allegations that NBC was ordering the removal of any references to God and the Bible from the animated series, the network first issued a flat denial. As reported in Broadcasting & Cable, NBC said they had to “clip off the beginning and ending tags, which are Bible verses, but they were also arguably the easiest cut to make.”

…NBC says using Bible verses or referring to God is offensive to some non-Christians. But NBC doesn’t hesitate to offend Christians by showing Madonna mocking the crucifixion of Christ. Neither do not mind offending Christians in their new program Studio 60 with a segment called Crazy Christians. –excerpted from an e-mail release from Focus on the Family, 09.28.06

Some simple math…

The experts tell us militant Islamic fundamentalists, or “Islamists,” represent a narrow, if murderous, fringe. They number no more than 10, maybe 15, percent of all Muslims. That estimate works out to somewhere between 100 million and 150 million people, which is a lot of murderous fringe. –Diane West

The Sex Offender Next Door

Leashing them in.

I wrote a Wall Street Journal opinion piece last year that began:
Did you know that in California, child molesters and rapists are a protected class? It’s true. Not only are California landlords banned from using the state’s Megan’s Law database to decline renting their properties to sex offenders, they’re not even allowed to warn other tenants that these paroled criminals are now their neighbors. If they do the first, they can be fined $25,000 for housing discrimination. But if they don’t do the second, they can be sued for failing to protect tenants against a known danger.

Landlords are caught between a rock, a hard place and the California State Assembly’s Public Safety Committee, which last April stalled a bill designed to fix the Catch-22…

Unfortunately, that situation hasn’t changed, because neither Prop. 83 – which toughens sex-offender restrictions and is expected to easily pass in the November election – nor the package of bills Arnold Schwarzenegger signed last week specifically addresses the strange Catch-22 facing owners of California rental properties. But supporters say these new laws will change California from one of the most lenient states when it comes to sex offenders to the harshest… –excerpted from an article by Catherine Seipp at the National Review website.

A missionary and the Indians, a historical note…

(See if you can find a lesson in here somewhere.)

The following reply to the Rev. Mr. Cram, missionary from Massachusetts to the Senecas, was made by the principal chiefs and warriors of the six nations, in council assembled at Buffalo Creek, State of New York, in the presence of the agent of the United States for Indian Affairs, in the summer of 1805.

“I am come brethren,” said the missionary, “to enlighten your minds, and to instruct you how to worship the Great Spirit agreeably to his will, and to preach to you the gospel of his Son, Jesus Christ. There is but one way to serve God, and if you do not embrace the right way, you cannot be happy hereafter.”

To which they replied: “Brothers, we understand your religion is written in a book. You say there is but one way to worship and serve the Great Spirit. If there is but one religion, why do you white people differ so much about it? Why not all agree, as you can all read the same book? Brother, we do not understand these things. We are told your religion was given to your forefathers. We also have a religion that was given to our forefathers. It teaches us to be thankful for all the favors we receive, to love one another, and to be united. We never quarrel about religion. We are told you have been teaching to the white people in this place. Those people are our neighbors; we are acquainted with them. We will wait a little, to see what effect your preaching has upon them. If we find it does them good, makes them honest, and less disposed to cheat Indians, we will then consider again what you have said.” –from the Millennial Harbinger, 1854.
