Some Things Said… (June 06) (1)

‘Da Vinci’ Revelation

“The Da Vinci Code” presumes that Jesus and Mary Magdalene had children. Some see it as the most blasphemous assault on Christianity ever.

Critics have organized protests and written articles railing against it. Yet every media outlet has publicized or promoted the movie, regardless of Christian sensitivities.

Properties destroyed by protesters: Zero. People killed: Zero.

Compare that to the weeks of death and destruction after a Danish newspaper published 12 satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad – which most Western media never published, ostensibly out of “respect for religious sensitivities.”

Hollywood hopes “The Da Vinci Code” will be a blockbuster. For revealing the bankruptcy of multiculturalism and the hypocrisy of the mainstream media, it already is. –a commentary by Arnold Ahlert from The New York Daily News on-line edition, 05.23.06

U.S. men place high value on being dads

A federal report released yesterday found that 47 percent of American men without a high-school diploma have fathered a child out of wedlock, compared with about 6 percent of college graduates.

The report by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) also found that when their first children were born, 37 percent of black fathers were married, compared with 52 percent of Hispanics and 77 percent of whites.

Both marital status and education shaped the differences in American men’s attitude and behavior noted in the report on American fatherhood, which was based on a series of large-scale surveys and released yesterday by the NCHS, a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. –excerpted from an article by Jennifer Harper in The Washington Times 06.01.06 read the article here

Some scientific cooling…

The science does not support claims of drastic increases in global temperatures over the 21st century, nor does it support claims of human influence on weather events and other secondary effects of climate change.

Computer models consistently project a rise in temperatures over the past century that is more than twice as high as the measured increase.

Half the observed 20th century warming occurred before 1940 and cannot be attributed to human causes…

The average summer air temperatures at the summit of the Greenland Ice Sheet have decreased at the rate of 4 degrees F per decade since measurements began in 1987… Arctic air temperatures were warmest in the 1930s and near the coolest for the period of recorded observations (since at least 1920) in the late 1980s. –quotes from a paper published last week by The National Center for Policy Analysis, read the study here

Misunderstood Islam

Tehran, 26 May (AKI) – (Ahmad Rafat) – On Thursday afternoon in Tehran’s cemetery of Behesht Zahra a group of 100 aspiring suicide bombers was sworn in at a ceremony also attended by a group of Hezbollah militants from Lebanon. The would-be terrorists are the new recruits of a movement which claims to have 50,000 members and is called Setad Pasdasht Shohadaye Nehzat Jahani Islam (Headquarters for the Commemoration of the Martyrs of the International Islamic Movement).

A day after the ceremony, Mohammad Ali Samadi, the organization’s spokesman, told Adnkronos International (AKI) in a phone conversation that “Each Israeli, soldier or civilian, must not feel safe wherever he or she is.”

How is it that this devout Muslim doesn’t know that Islam forbids the killing of civilians, as we are tirelessly told in the West?

Samadi said Israel is a target of the group along with the US and European Union countries where the group has allegedly recruited militants. “We have brothers who are ready to sacrifice their lives for the triumph of Islam in Great Britain, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and also the United States,” he said.

Samadi’s organization was created two years ago and is led by a woman, Forouz Rajaifar… –from commenting on a post from AKI — read the post here
