I was certainly shocked and appalled when information about the kind of sermons being preached at the church Barrack Obama has been a member for nearly 20 years was revealed. Honestly, I am at a loss how any person who claims to be a Christian or claims to preach from the scriptures can teach against any race or gender. Perhaps these “ministers” have not read:
“So Peter opened his mouth and said: ‘Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.'” (Acts 10:34-35)
God does not show any distinction between any person. Whoever fear God and does what is right in any nation, from any background, or any race will be found pleasing to God. If you are attending a “church” where the lessons consist of prejudice or condemnation based upon race or gender, then you are not attending a church that follows the Word of God.
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)
Christians are not to see the color of another person’s skin. Christians are not to look at how much or how little money a person has. Christians are not to use outward appearances to form judgments against others. No one should have as a mentor a person who spews such hatred toward another race. God loves the soul of every person equally. There is no room for us to distinguish who we will show the love of Christ toward. Race and gender relations will never improve as long as people continue to preach hatred toward another race or gender.
